VEX Robotics Competitions in Ireland
From the very first VEX Robotics Competition in Ireland (8th November 2012 in City Hall, Cork) where 10 teams competed, the community has grown into nearly 250 teams who compete year-on-year in the VEX IQ Robotics Competition or VEX V5 Robotics Competitions at regional events all across Ireland. Launched in partnership with REC Foundation, global sponsor - and Cork-based - Dell Technologies, the growth would not have been possible without the support of partners such as Munster Technical University, Science Foundation Ireland, Lifetime Labs - and many others - who have contributed time, funding and dedication which has resulted in the programmes becoming some of the most engaging STEM activities offered in Ireland!
After a return to in-person events - and a record breaking season - in 2022 - 2023, we are excited to see what the new 2025 - 2026 season will bring as we look to grow across Ireland, bringing in more regions to culminate in the biggest and best Irish National Championship to date!
Mission
The Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation’s mission is to increase student interest and involvement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by engaging students in hands-on, affordable, and sustainable robotics engineering programs.
Vision
We see a future where all students design and innovate as part of a team, experience failure, persevere, and embrace STEM. These lifelong learners emerge confident in their ability to make the world a better place.
